<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an adaptation to new media with a reduction in host processing in printing and without a version upgrade of a driver by making a printer retrieve from a network, and use a table for image color converting processing required in the printing, when printing media are set. <P>SOLUTION: This printer comprises a means for identifying media which are set in the printer, a means for retrieving a device on the network in accordance with the image color converting table and a list of devices for holding profiles, a means for downloading the necessary profile and the necessary image color converting table from the device which is retrieved from the network, a means for storing the profile and the image color converting table, a means for uploading the profile and the image color converting table, and a means for performing the decompression of image data from colors with RGB (red, green and blue) characteristics to ink colors by the image color converting processing. At the power-on of the printer, the printing media are recognized, and the appropriate image color converting table is retrieved from the device on the network, which holds the prestored image color converting table. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
