The invention relates to a device for mounting a printing plate onto a plate cylinder of a printing press. Said device comprises at least one printing plate magazine with an opening for providing a printing plate that is to be mounted onto the plate cylinder in a mounting direction. The invention is characterised in that the printing plate has a specified length and that a guide element is provided in the opening, said element engaging with at least one side of the printing plate running parallel to its length, in order to align the printing plate with its length parallel to the mounting direction. Another embodiment of the device provides a friction body that can be engaged against the printing plate.
