<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printer cover facilitating maintenance work, e.g. replacement of an ink cartridge, without generating an offensive collision sound when the cover is opened or closed. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 100 has such a structure as the entirety is covered with an upper dome housing 1 and the external appearance is defined by the upper housing 1 and a cover 3 covering an opening 1a for replacing an ink cartridge. The cover 3 has a rotary shaft on the rear side and when the cover is turned about the rotary shaft, it is opened from the front side toward the rear side of the printer 100. A torsion coil spring 7 is provided in the vicinity of the rotary shaft of the cover 3 in order to urge the cover 3 in the switching direction from closed state to open state. Since the cover 3 is urged by the torsion coil spring 7 under open state, it does not tilt forward gravitationally thus enhancing the workability when the ink cartridge is replaced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
