<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve device having a regenerative function, which valve device can achieve a required regenerative operation and a required regeneration releasing operation. <P>SOLUTION: The valve device is provided on a hydraulic shovel and has a directional control valve 1 for controlling the drive of an arm cylinder 6, and a regenerative valve 30 which can supply the return oil from the arm cylinder 6 to the arm cylinder 6 via the directional control valve 1 by regenerating the oil returned from the arm cylinder 6. A spool 32 of this regenerative valve 30 is set so as to have a stepped shape including a large diameter part 32a and a small diameter part 32b continued to the large diameter part 32a.
