PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out an efficient and stable maintenance work for a printing means of an ink jet printer which is increasingly made precise/large. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer includes a transfer means for sending out a record medium while loading or supporting the same, the printing means for imaging by jetting minute liquid drops of a liquid recording material to the record medium on the transfer means, and a maintenance means for maintaining the printing means.
