PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device, a bulb and a base of which are joined together with a simple structure, where the electrodeless discharge lamp has an induction coil located in a recessed cavity. SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device comprises a bulb 1 almost in the shape of a sphere, which is filled with a discharge gas including at least mercury and an inert gas and has a recessed cavity 2 with a bottom; an induction coil 3 which is located in the recessed cavity 2, and supplies high frequency magnetic field to the discharge gas; a high frequency power source 4 which supplies a high frequency current to the induction coil 3; and a base 5 which is located in the neighborhood of an opening of the recessed cavity 2, where a locking means 6 for holding the bulb 1 and a connecting means 7 for connecting the locking means 6 and the bulb 5 are formed along the outer periphery of the bulb 1.
