PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data reproducing device, in which the reproduction of the data is surely carried out while coping with the change of the writing start position of the data. SOLUTION: Reading data DR read out from each sector of a recording medium together with a synchronizing pattern and re-synchronizing pattern are stored in a buffer memory 13, and these reading data DR are read out from the buffer memory 13, and error correction is carried out to produce error corrected data as the reproduced data. When the reading operation of the synchronizing pattern fails, the data between the synchronizing pattern and the re-synchronizing pattern are reproduced in accordance with the error correcting process without storing dummy data in the buffer memory 13.
