PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ferritic stainless steel which has excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and high temperature oxidation resistance, and can withstand use at a high temperature of >900°C. SOLUTION: The stock components of the ferritic stainless steel are controlled to the compositional ranges comprising, by mass,≤0.02% C,≤2.0% Si,≤2.0% Mn, >16.0 to 40.0% Cr, 1.0 to 5.0% Mo, >2.0 to 5.0% W,≥4.3% (Mo+W), 5(C+N) to 1.0% Nb and≤0.02% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
