PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a control method for elevator operation, capable of securely rescuing passengers of an elevator in case an earthquake occurs, by controlling the operation of the elevator based on the position and the running direction of the elevator car relative to the position of a base isolation device in an operation for emergency at the earthquake. SOLUTION: This control device is provided with a means of storing the position of the base isolation device on the elevator device side, and is structured so that the operation of the elevator may be controlled based on the position and the running direction of the elevator car relative to the position of the base isolation device in the operation for emergency at the earthquake.
