The invention relates to an analysis of neuronal activities in neuronal areas, using a coupling model. In said coupling model a) the neuronal activities and the signals are coupled together using cross-coupling parameters, b) the signals are coupled by means of signal coupling parameters which each couple two of the signals together, c) the neuronal activities are coupled by means of activity coupling parameters, which each couple two of the neuronal activities together, whereby an optimisation of at least the signal coupling parameters is determined for the analysis.
