An opto-electronic module has a multi-core fiber glass rod (1) that is held partly integral in a casing (3) and can be coupled optically to a transmitter/receiver device (2). The multi-core fiber glass rod fits directly on the opto-electronic module and so avoids the need to use stamps/dies to produce connections for pigtails. An Independent claim is also included for a method for producing an opto-electronic module with an opto-electronic component.
