PURPOSE: A device and a method for preventing the rolling back of a vehicle is provided to prevent the vehicle from rolling back when the vehicle starts on a slope and to prevent accidents by warning the rolling back of the vehicle of a driver. CONSTITUTION: A device for preventing the rolling back of a vehicle is composed of a speed sensing unit(100) for sensing the traveling speed of the vehicle; a slope sensing unit(200) mounted to a proper position of the vehicle to detect gradient; an accelerator pedal sensing unit(300) for sensing operation states of an accelerator pedal; a brake pedal sensing unit(400) for sensing operation states of a brake pedal of the vehicle; a braking hydraulic regulating valve(750) automatically closed and opened to hold and release the brake power of a brake; a braking hydraulic valve driving unit(700) for driving the braking hydraulic regulating valve; and a microcomputer(500) for checking a re-starting state of the vehicle on the slope to an input signal of the sensing units and then outputting a control signal for preventing the rolling back of the vehicle to control the braking hydraulic valve driving unit.
