PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method for eluting from protein cadmium (heavy metal) accumulated in the guts (the midgut gland) of a scallop and for economically removing harmful substances.
SOLUTION: The method for removing cadmium is that a liquid is adjusted as a ferric chloride solution of 3-4% strength, one quarter of which is reduced by reduced iron, and that the midgut gland impregnated with the cadmium metal is dipped into the mixture of the treated one quarter of the liquid and the untreated three quarters of the liquid, thereby the cadmium being dissolved and separated from the midgut grand. The cadmium-containing mixture of ferric chloride solution and ferrous chloride solution is adjusted to pH 7-11 by a caustic soda solution to recover the cadmium as a stabilized substance of a metal complex material of triiron tetraoxide cadmium. Thus, the cadmium, as a harmful component such as the heavy metals, contained in the midgut grand is recovered and the guts (the midgut grand) is effectively utilized as a useful protein for forage and manure.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
