<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic solution for a secondary battery assuring a stable and excellent cycle lifetime for the battery and provide such a secondary battery assuring a stable and excellent cycle lifetime and exerting a high charge-discharge efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The electrolytic solution for the secondary battery contains a non-protonic solvent and sulfonium salts expressed by Formula (1) in Synopsis 1. In Formula (1), R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>represent phenyl radical substituted or unsubstituted, a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl radical in the form of straight chain or branched form, and a cycloalkyl radical substituted or unsubstituted, respectively.
