<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal identification device of high reliability for surely identifying a principal without taking the principal for another person even out of billions of people. <P>SOLUTION: The personal identification device is provided with a means for registering biological information on a plurality of fingers, a means for extracting the biological information on a plurality of fingers of the principal simultaneously, a means for separating the extracted biological information into the one by individual finger, a means for collating the biological information on separated fingers with that on the fingers of the principal pre-registered, and a means for deciding the principal when the number of corresponding fingers exceeds a fixed number as a result of collation. In the device, a whole hand is photographed at a time, a finger picture of the plurality of fingers is separated by picture processing into pictures of the plurality of fingers. By identifying the principal if a plurality of fingers correspond to those of the registered principal, the reliability of the personal identification can not only be enhanced without impairing the convenience, but also the possible rejection of the principal can be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
