<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently removing formaldehyde by oxidation at a low temperature without using a harmful substance such as ozone. <P>SOLUTION: The method is applied for removing formaldehyde by oxidation in the presence of a catalyst containing (I) noble metal particles with a particle diameter 10 nm or smaller and (II) at least one of metal oxides selected from the group consisting of cerium oxide, zirconium oxide, a cerium oxide-zirconium oxide compound oxide, and a compound oxide of titanium oxide with at least one of cerium oxide and zirconium oxide. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
