PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for laser ranging for reducing measurement errors caused by an intermodulation element in a measuring beam. SOLUTION: In this laser ranging system (1), a laser diode (4) for radiating the measuring beam (3) with intensity modulated through high frequency is connected to a signal generator unit (SEE) for generating high frequency signal. A light receiving sensor (8a) for receiving the measuring beam (3) reflected in a measuring object (5) is connected to a high frequency demodulator (13) for generating a low frequency phase time-dependent signal including phase information of the measuring beam (3). Further a microcontroller (μC) is connected with the high frequency demodulator (13), in order to calculate distance (D) to the measuring object (5). Then the microcontroller (μC) is connected to an optical sensor for control placed in the measuring beam (3), for obtaining the intermodulation element. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
