PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device and a light emitting element mounting method in which, while a light emitting element and its drive circuit board are easily connected to each other even if a surface mounting type light emitting element is employed, drive signal waveform distortion, unwanted electromagnetic radiation and a crosstalk of the drive signal can be reduced. SOLUTION: After pin connecters are soldered to a sub circuit board 18 for connection, the sub circuit board is fixed to an LD blanket by using screws. A lighting unit for position adjustment is connected with the sub circuit board 18 to light the LD, and a relative position of a collimating lens and LD is adjusted to position a light emitting point of the LD, thereafter fixing the relative position. Further, after the adjustment of collimation is finished, the LD lighting unit for position adjustment is removed and then the circuit board mounted with the LD driver actually used in a machine or the like is soldered.
