PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode light emitting element provided with a gate electrode construction not discharging any gas inside a cold cathode light emitting element container, in which the distance between the gate electrode and a cathode electrode wiring layer is uniform and the mesh shape of an opening part can be made extremely fine. SOLUTION: A plurality of bending parts 22 are provided on both sides of a long side of the gate electrode 21. These bending parts 22 have the same film thickness as the gate electrode 21 and can be bent approximately 180°inside with the vicinity of the border with the gate electrode 21 as the starting point. The bending parts 22 are provided in positions in which the meshed openings 23 and a frit holes 24 provided on the gate electrode 21 are not sealed when bent. Furthermore, the length (L1) of the bending part 22 is half of the width of the gate electrode 21 (L2), and the bending part 22 forms a leg part of the gate electrode 21 with height which is the same as the thickness of the film of the bending part 22 without overlapping with each other.
