A fitness trolley has a standing platform (1) supported by front and rear wheels (40) and steered by an upright handlebar system (2, 3, 4, 5). The rear wheels are linked to the front wheels via a chain or belt drive and the handlebar system is linked to the wheels via an epicyclic gearing (6). The handlebar is twisted and/or tilted, to control the wheels, with the rear wheels turning in the same direction as the front wheels or in the opposite direction depending on the tilt setting. The tilt movement of the handlebar is transmitted to the steering linkage (7 to 11) by a sliding coupling, e.g. a sleeve (5).
