Shaving formulation based on microemulsion containing oil comprises (a) a primary surfactant, (b) cosurfactant(s), (c) optionally W/O (water/oil) emulsifier(s), (d) liquid and/or solid oil phase(s), (e) 0-4 wt.% salt, (f) glycerol polyglycol ether isostearate (I) and (g) optionally other thickener(s). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) preparation of these microemulsions by combining the constituents using a variable primary/cosurfactant ratio at constant total amount of surfactants; (2) preparation of transparent microemulsions by combination (wt.%) of 15% total surfactants, 0.001-2.5% W/O emulsifier(s), 1-15% oil phase(s), 0.01-5% (I) and optionally thickener(s) and adding 0-4% salt, in which the primary/cosurfactant ratio can be varied.
