<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte with high safety against overcharge and a lithium battery using this. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte contains a lithium salt, an organic solvent, and a halogenated benzene compound. Even if the battery is overcharged and voltage is raised, since the electrolyte is oxidatively decomposed and a polymer is formed, overcharge current is consumed and the battery is protected. The lithium battery enhancing overcharge safety and effectively suppressing a swelling phenomenon, and at the same time retaining various performance such as standard capacity, high rate characteristics, and cycle characteristics can be manufactured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
