<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently suppress an excessively enhanced component in the case of converting the number of scanning lines of a video signal. <P>SOLUTION: In the case of converting the number of scanning lines of a video signal and enhancing a high frequency component at least in a vertical direction in the converted video signal, a delay circuit 18 obtains a delay signal delayed by a time in a plurality of stages equal to or more than the time required for converting the number of scanning lines or over, a comparison selection circuit 19 selects a proper delay signal among a plurality of the delay signals, enhanced component detection circuits 16a, 16b compare the selected delay signal with the enhanced video signal to detect the excessively enhanced component, and suppression circuits 13a, 13b perform processing of suppressing the enhancing as to the part of the excessively enhanced signal component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
