<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display of a lateral electric field system which can be easily repaired. <P>SOLUTION: Regions enclosed by a plurality of gate signal lines provided side by side on the surface on a liquid crystal side of one substrate of respective substrates disposed opposite to each other via the liquid crystal and a plurality of drain signal lines crossing the respective gate lines are specified to be pixel regions. The pixel regions are provided with switching elements driven by scanning signals from the gate signal lines, pixel electrodes to which video signals from the drain signal lines are supplied via the switching elements and counter electrodes generating electric fields between the pixel electrodes and the counter electrodes. The pixel electrodes and the counter electrodes are constituted of a plurality of electrode groups alternately disposed comprising the counter electrodes adjacent to the drain signal lines and disposed to be nearly parallel to the drain signal lines. The counter electrode adjacent to the drain signal line and disposed to be nearly parallel to the drain signal line is formed at an another layer sandwiching the drain signal line and an insulating film and has an extended part superposed on the drain signal line at at least two points. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
