PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color toner having high color fastness to light while keeping transparency, hue and saturation which a dye have, in consideration of the fact that a color toner excellent in transparency, hue and saturation and having high color fastness to light cannot be obtained by the prior arts and to provide an image forming method using the obtained toner. SOLUTION: The electrostatic charge image developing toner is obtained by dissolving a resin having a group which reacts with active hydrogen and a toner composition containing a colorant soluble in an organic solvent and having one or more active hydrogens in an organic solvent, dispersing the resulting solution in an aqueous medium containing fine particles and/or colloid and/or a surfactant, reacting the resin and the colorant in the resulting dispersion solution and removing the solvent in the dispersion solution.
