<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently absorb foreign matters such as powder, dust, viable pollen coming from outside of a mask, to keep a sufficient amount of a liquid agent which enables a user to breath wet air for a long period of time, to prevent the user from having difficulty in breathing, and to flexibly and closely fit a mask to the face. <P>SOLUTION: A filter 1 for a mask is obtained by laminating a water absorption sheet 2 and high void sheets 3 and 4. The water absorption sheet 2 is formed of e.g. a water absorbing nonwoven fabric and contains water absorbing fibers. The high void sheets 3 and 4 are laminated on the front face and rear face of the water absorption sheet 2 to make the water absorption sheet 2 hold the liquid agent. The high void sheets 3 and 4 have the ratio of voids ranging 80% to 90% so as to avoid to have a capillary tube effect and keep a sheet-like form.
