<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure with a slit, which serves as a manufacturing intermediate wherein defects such as cracks are hard to cause when the honeycomb structure is manufactured by burning. <P>SOLUTION: This cylindrical honeycomb structure 5 with the slit 4 is composed of ceramics. A central axis B of a central cell is set to be a straight line which crosses a plane including the cell central axis B and a diagonal A of a quadrilateral serving as a cross-sectional shape of the central cell, located on or near the central axis, of cells 2; and at least one slit 4 with a length equivalent to not less than 60% of a length from one opening edge 8a to the other opening edge 8b is formed in the direction of the central axis in an area on an outer peripheral surface 7 of an external wall 3, wherein two planes, crossing each other at an angle of -25°to +25°, are partitioned by the opening edge of the external wall 3 and two straight lines C and D crossing the peripheral surface 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
