PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove only contaminants in situ without excavating and removing the contaminated soil contaminated with various kinds of the contaminants. SOLUTION: The in-situ cleaning method comprises supplying water 8 which is a fluid for conveyance into the contaminated soil by using a supplying means 3 and flushing away the contaminant, such as oil, distributed to a region above the ground water level within the contaminated soil 1. Then, a lift pump 44 of a recovering means 40 is operated before or after such supplying step to collect the contaminants flowing into the ground water together with the fluid for conveyance to an installation place of the lift pump according to the water level gradient formed by the lift pump 44. The contaminants are then prevented from diffusing to the surroundings even after flowing into the ground water. Then, the contaminants collected at the installation point of the lift pump 44 is lifted through a lifting pipe 42 onto the ground. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
