PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the signal omission of magnetic information transferred on a slave medium and to facilitate peeling from the slave medium after the transfer when a magnetic transfer master carrier having a concave and convex pattern on the surface is tightly contacted to the slave medium to execute magnetic transfer. SOLUTION: In the master carrier 3 having a concave and convex pattern on the surface corresponding to the information to be transferred to a magnetic recording medium 2, in a part 3a brought into contact with the magnetic recording medium 2 of the surface of the master carrier 3, projections of 50nm or more in height from the average plane of the part 3a are formed by≤30 pieces per 90μm<SP>2</SP>, and projections of 2nm or more in height from the average plane are formed at the rate of 5 to 300 pieces per 90μm<SP>2</SP>.
