PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing efficiently an organic electroluminescent element such as an organic EL element that is superior in luminous efficient, uniformity of light-emitting quantity, and durability, and a transfer material used for it. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the organic electroluminescent element, using a transfer material for an organic electroluminescent element in which the temporary support member has at least one physical property out of a flexural elastic modulus ( as prescribed by JIS K 7171) of 1x10<SP>2</SP>-1x10<SP>5</SP>MPa, a tensile elastic modulus ( as prescribed by JIS K 7127) of 1x10<SP>2</SP>-1x10<SP>5</SP>MPa, and a tensile yield strength (as prescribed by JIS 7113) of 10-5x10<SP>2</SP>MPa, the transfer material is heated and / or pressurized by piling up on the substrate so that the organic layer side may face the coating face of the substrate, and then, by tearing off the temporary support member, the organic layer is transferred on the coating face of the substrate.
