PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To straighten paper so that its cross sectional view may be linear by straightening curl, which occurs because only either surface of the paper is heated by a heat roller in the case of fixing a toner image on paper, in an image forming apparatus equipped with a heat roller fixing type fixing device. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a cooling means for cooling a paper passing area between a fixing means 16 and a paper ejection means 9 when recording paper 10 passes through the paper passing area, and the cooling means is driven when the recording paper 10 is gripped by both of the fixing means 16 and the paper ejection means 9.
