摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make display rewritable by driving a liquid crystal display device in which a static driving method is adopted and an antiferroelectric liquid crystal is used. SOLUTION: In a display rewriting cycle, a writing time period to display a pixel on or off is set and subsequently an erasing time period to erase a displayed picture is set, and a potential of a common electrode is alternately set to be V<SB>r</SB>and -V<SB>r</SB>. Furthermore, in the writing time period, the potential of a segment electrode of a pixel to be displayed on is alternately set to be V<SB>on</SB>and -V<SB>on</SB>. The potential of a segment electrode of a pixel to be displayed off is kept at an earth potential V<SB>GND</SB>.
