PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeder capable of separating and feeding sheets one by one and provided with a retard separation mechanism capable of improving separation performance of sheet, conveyance property, and durability. SOLUTION: This sheet feeder is provided with a feed roller rotated and driven in the direction of paper feeding and a reverse rotation roller rotated and driven in the reverse direction to the direction of sheet feeding by fixed torque to return fed-in sheet. The reverse rotation roller is provided with at least one or more and a plurality of reverse rotation rollers separately from the first reverse rotation roller which comes into pressure contact with the feed roller.
