PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method and an apparatus for connecting material webs. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the method for connecting a supplying material web 2 to a running in new material web 18 by knurling webs 2, 18 to be connected and running almost synchronous speed and almost parallelly, between a rotating knurling face 27 and a rotating counter face 34 and especially relates to the method for connecting paper webs 2, 18 supplied from bobbins 4, 19 in cigarette processing industry. Each of the knurling face 27 and the countering face 34 rotates at different speeds and operationally connected to carry out knurling in every (n) revolution, in the method wherein (n) is >1.
