After the osteotome has been positioned at the bone in the maxillary sinus a sleeve, located at the distal end of the osteotome, can be moved against the mucous membrane and fixed in this position. The mandrel is inserted into the device and hit on its rear end in order to split the bone precisely. The mandrel is removed and a balloon-tipped catheter filled with a rigid material is inserted, the air released, and the valve closed. The balloon is filled again with a defined volume of air, lifting the mucous membrane in the process. |
