摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attitude recognition device which can highly reliably recognize an attitude at high speed even if it is mounted on a mobile object which can freely move. <P>SOLUTION: The attitude recognition device recognizing an instruction that the attitude of a person in a periphery means from an image obtained in an image pickup means has a contour extracting means extracting the contour of an object being the candidate of the person from the image, a distance calculation means calculating a distance to the object being the candidate of the person from distance information at every pixel in the contour in the image, a searching means searching the candidate of a hand of the person on the basis of the distance between the outline and the object of the contour, and an attitude deciding means deciding an instruction corresponding to a relative position between the candidate of the hand and the contour and setting a decided result to be an attitude recognition result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
