<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately compensate waveform deterioration of a received signal caused by wavelength distribution or polarization mode distribution without using a distribution compensation fiber or a polarization maintaining fiber in a receiving apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The receiving apparatus is provided with: a compensation characteristic variable first waveform deterioration compensating means 3; a compensation characteristic variable second waveform deterioration compensating means 5 capable of further compensating the waveform deterioration of an output from the means 3; a received waveform measuring means 8 for measuring waveform data of the received signal; a control means 9 for controlling compensation characteristics of the waveform deterioration compensating means 3 and 5 to minimize a difference between frequency data resulting from converting the received waveform data obtained by the means 8 to a frequency area and frequency data of a reference waveform which is not deteriorated; and time constant generating means 16-1 and 16-2 for providing a difference between control speeds of compensation characteristics from the control means 9 to the waveform deterioration compensating means 3 and 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
