PRODUCTION METHOD FOR OPTICALLY ACTIVE beta-AMINO ACIDS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of optically activeβ-amino acids in a catalytic asymmetric synthesis with high yield and high asymmetric yield without using processes such as a process introducing a protective group to a starting material or a deprotection process, in production of the optically activeβ-amino acids useful as synthetic intermediates for medicines or agrochemicals and physiologically active substances.

SOLUTION: The method for production of the optically activeβ-amino acids comprises asymmetric hydrogenation of enamines by using an asymmetric hydrogenation catalyst such as a transition metal complex having an asymmetric phosphine ligand.
