PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for representing an image with an image representing device provided with a plurality of pixels including a plurality of sub-pixels. SOLUTION: This method for representing an image with the image representing device that includes sub-pixels respectively displaying four mutually different hues and includes a pixel consisting of three mutually different sub-pixels among the sub-pixels comprises a step for selecting three color signals according to the type of a sub-pixel constituting a prescribed pixel among four or more color signals (a), a step for calculating a selected color signal value of a peripheral pixel of a pixel (b), a step for using the selected color signal value and a corresponding color signal value of the peripheral pixels to calculate a luminance value represented by respective sub-pixels included in the pixel (c), and a display driving stage for controlling the luminance of an image represented by the image display device by the calculated sub-pixel luminance value.
