PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DIR coupler having high multi-purpose property which can develop a high edge effect and a multilayer effect by releasing a development inhibitor without forming an azomethine dye after the coupling reaction with the oxidized body of a developing agent, and to provide a silver halide color photographic sensitive material containing the above coupler. SOLUTION: The photographic material contains a compound expressed by general formula (I) or (II). In the formulae, R<SB>1</SB>represents a substituent, n represents an integer 0 to 6, R<SB>2</SB>represents an alkyl group or an aryl group, R<SB>3</SB>represents m (1 to 3) of independent substituents (wherein the total sum of the Hammett's substituent constantsσ<SB>p</SB>of all R<SB>3</SB>is≥0.1), each of R<SB>4</SB>and R<SB>5</SB>represents H, an alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkynyl group or aryl group, and INH represents a residue of mercaptotetrazole derivative, mercaptotriazole derivative, mercapto thiadiazole derivative, mercaptoxadiazole derivative or the like.
