PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add an appropriate braking force to a reel containing a case main body by preventing the entrance of water and dust from a gap formed between a braking button and the case main body. SOLUTION: This tape measure comprises the reel for holding a measuring tape by winding and unwinding and winding up the measuring tape by clockwise and counterclockwise rotation; a spiral spring for automatically winding up the unwound measuring tape by rotating the reel; and the case main body containing the reel and the spiral spring.
