PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing a 3,4-dihydro-4-substituted-6,7-methylenedioxycoumarin useful as a synthetic intermediate for a medicine, or the like, from sesamol in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for simply producing the 3,4-dihydro-4-substituted-6,7-methylenedioxycoumarin represented by formula (1) comprises reacting sesamol with a 3-alkoxyacrylic acid ester in the presence of an acid in an organic solvent.
