PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shampoo composition which has a good bubbling property and a good smooth bubble quality, when used for shampooing hair, gives excellent gloss, softness and dampness, after dried, and has excellent stability. SOLUTION: This shampoo composition is characterized by comprising (A) a dicarboxylic acid, a hydroxycarboxylic acid or their salts, (B) an organic solvent, (C) a sulfate residue-having anionic surfactant, and (D) a vitamin, an amino acid, an amino acid-similar substance, a protein hydrolysate, or their derivatives, and having a pH value of 1 to 4 at 25°C, when diluted with a 20 weight fold amount of water.
