PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier tape and a carrier tape body, in which the sticking of electronic components to a cover tape upon removing it is prevented and the toppling of the electronic components in pockets of the carrier tape is also prevented. SOLUTION: The carrier tape comprises the pockets for housing the electronic components, and each pocket has an opening covered with the cover tape. According to the carrier tape, as well as to a carrier tape body formed by covering the carrier tape, on which the electronic components are housed in the pockets, with the cover tape, a gap B mm between the top surface of each electronic component and the opening satisfies the expression: B≥√(0.05/A) when the electronic component to be housed is A mg in weight.
