A method for fitting a windscreen into a vehicle has the glass (1) fitted into a support frame (2) with a U-shaped outer edge open to the vehicle. An L-shaped flange (5) is fitted to the mounting flange (4) of the windscreen frame (3) with the outer end directed away from the vehicle and towards the U-shaped outer edge of the glass support frame. The two profiles are fitted over each other forming a hollow space (a) into which a gas release cord can be laid without separate fastenings. A U-shaped plastic strip (7) is laid over the cord, to form a pressure flange to push out the windscreen when the gas is released. The windscreen is secured by a bonder (11) applied into the gap between the glass support frame and the vehicle frame. The design can be applied to front and rear windscreens.
