PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron gun electrode 13 capable of precluding degradation of quality and a failure by reducing exfoliation and slipping-off of barium evaporated from a cathode 12 onto a first grid electrode G1. SOLUTION: Among a plurality of electrodes 13 used in the electron gun 11, the first grid electrode G1 is located on the side with the cathode 12. The surface of the first grid electrode G1 is formed in a rough surface 27 rougher than the surface of the second grid electrode G2. The bonding strength of the rough surface 27 of the first grid electrode G1 with the barium evaporated from the cathode 12 onto the rough surface 27 is heightened so as to reduce the risk of exfoliation and slipping-off of the barium. The surface roughness Rz of the rough surface 27 is ranged in 0.2-1.5μm, and it is compatibly established to secure a sufficient bonding strength of barium and to preclude unnecessary electrode emission caused by an excessive surface irregularity.
