METHOD FOR RECORDING/INSPECTING SERVO INFORMATION AT DISK DRIVE AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recording/inspecting servo information at a disk drive in order to record the servo information while minimizing the influence to be exerted on the servo information recorded at an adjacent cylinder by a gap erase field of the disk drive and to perform the servo information inspection and defect processing corresponding thereto and an apparatus for the same. SOLUTION: The method for recording/inspecting the servo information of the disk includes a step of successively recording the servo information in a cylinder direction being a skew "0" from the outer periphery in an outsider region around the cylinder being the skew "0" and successively recording the servo information to the cylinder direction being the skew "0" from the inner periphery in an insider region and a step of inspecting the servo information recorded at the cylinder existing at the prescribed distance from the cylinder being the skew "0" after ending the recording of the servo information by the step (a) and of making judgment as to whether the servo information recording state is normal or not.
