PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an HDD (Hard Disk Drive) which efficiently decreases the vibrations of a slider by the air flux generated by rotation of a disk. SOLUTION: The HDD includes a base provided with an air damping ramp in proximity to a recording surface of the disk, a slider, and a moving region which is a moving region of a driving means for supporting the same and is lower as compared with the air damping ramp. A channel which is embedded from the base surface of the moving region and extends at least along the moving route of the slider is formed in the moving region. The eddy currents that an abnormal preload is formed near an HGA (Head Gimbal Assembly) by the abnormal HGA are decreased by such constitution. As a result, the vibrations of the HGA by the eddy currents are decreased and the degradation in PES (Position Error Signal) characteristics can be prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
