PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining an aqueous ferric chloride solution with a low indium concentration by removing indium from an indium-containing ferric chloride etchant waste which may contain tin and a method for recovering indium from the indium-containing ferric chloride etchant waste which may contain tin. SOLUTION: The method for obtaining an aqueous ferric chloride solution with a low indium concentration comprises adding iron and divalent nickel to an indium-containing ferric chloride etchant waste which may contain tin, thus precipitating nickel and indium. Indium is recovered from the precipitate. When tin is contained, it may be removed from the indium-containing ferric chloride etchant waste preliminarily or at the same time with the indium removal/recovery treatment. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
