PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the maintenance management easy by effectively using an adsorbent, in an oil separating system provided with a preprocessing tank for storing drainage and roughly separating oil and a feeding means for feeding the drainage in the preprocessing tank to the downstream by a fixed volume corresponding to the water level of the drainage. SOLUTION: The preprocessing tank is provided with an approximately cylindrical and bottomed casing having an air vent at the upper part and a drainage discharge hole at the lower part, a shaft communicating to a drainage inlet pipe and erecting in the center of the casing, and two or more annular cages arranged so as to surround the shaft and to pass through the drainage. A comparatively low density oil adsorbent is filled in a upper cage, a comparatively high density oil adsorbent is filled in a lower cage, and a fine drainage spout is provided in a part facing to the side face of the shaft and the low density oil adsorbent.
